Exploring All of Your Skin Tightening Choices
Skin tightening is a bit of a sensitive
subject. After all, nobody likes to be reminded that the passage of time can
cause skin to sag. If you already have a visual reminder of that every time you
look in the mirror, it's time to explore your treatment options. Luckily, there
are a lot of treatments that you could potentially try :)
Facelifts Aren't the Only Answer to Skin
Sags
The most invasive option available to you
is a facelift or other skin tightening surgery. While facelifts can only be
done on the face or neck, tummy tucks and other surgical procedures also exist.
However, they can be expensive, take up a lot of time, and put you at some
risks, such as reactions to anesthesia and potential infections. All of those
are good reasons why many people try less invasive treatments like chemical
peels and microdermabrasion before resorting to surgery.
Where Laser Treatments Fit Into the Mix
Lasers are medical devices for skincare that are very diverse. Some of them
can be used to perform laser peels, also known as laser skin resurfacing. Those
procedures work a lot like microdermabrasion and chemical peels except that
they utilize light and heat as the mediums for achieving the results. Peeling
the top layer can reveal healthier, tighter looking cells, reducing minor
wrinkles.
If your sagging skin is more severe, you
might prefer a laser treatment that has the power to get down into the deeper tissues.
Some lasers can get to your lower layers of skin and stimulate them to produce
more proteins and healthy hormones to repair your skin cells. One such protein
is collagen.
Sound Wave Treatments Are Also Popular
Another option you have for tightening up
your skin is to have some sort of sound wave therapy. The two most common types
are ultrasound treatments and radio frequency treatments. The former tend to be
a bit stronger than the latter and able to penetrate into deeper skin layers.
So, which treatment you should have depends on the severity of your skin sags
and wrinkles.
Keep in mind that, regardless of your
chosen sound wave treatment, it will be both less invasive and less thorough
than a laser treatment. That means that you'll need more of those sound wave
treatments before you seen any results. So, if you want your results to be
gradual but the process to be easy, sound wave treatments are a good choice. If
you would prefer your skin to tighten up faster, lasers or other treatments may
be needed.
Other Considerations When Choosing a
Skin Tightening Method
Of course, you also have to consider other
things before having your skin tightened. The first step is examining other
skin treatments that are available to you, such as Botox injections. The second
is how soon you want to see results. Then you have to consider the severity of
your current skin problems and the general type of skin that you have. Finally,
you'll have to balance all of that with your budget, your time schedule, and
the availability of certain procedures in your local area to choose the best
way to get rid of your sagging skin and wrinkles.
